A superb working example of Arts & Crafts building. Very comfortable hotel. Very friendly and welcoming Landlord &Landlady and staff. Very nice food. Good Value. If you are looking for Premier Inn or Holiday Inn type experience this is not for you! This is like fine Cider it has to be enjoyed and savored! Will visit again
We LOVE the Kildare! Harvey & Sarah are so warm and welcoming and we love the opportunity to run our Dryad cocktail bars during their brilliant Ale festivals.
Stunning Arts and Crafts building, both externally and internally. The rather loud and coarse locals seem out of keeping with it, somehow, but sooner that than a sterile dining pub. The ales are kept well, and after reading another review, I noticed how well priced they are, which is another thing out of keeping with such a stylish building, and most welcome. This place is well worth a visit. But prepare yourself for the foul language of some of the rather unattractive local clientele. I have nothing against “characters”, but foul mouthed, opinionated bores are of course, boring. And given they all know the solutions to Covid (and most other global problems), it was surprising to see little observation of proper social distancing as they crowded around the bar area, and in some cases sat at communal tables. But, of course, I guess it is everyone else who has the virus.
A quality place for a relaxing pint. Lovely ale and atmosphere. Brilliant, helpful staff. No noisy jukebox to annoy social drinkers. Great proper pub.
